M'étonnerais pas que ça soit encore repoussé cette sortie en 2018 vers 2019, la sortie fin 2017 c'était Cameron qui avait dit que c'était son objectif mais il y avait rien d'officiel.

Vu qu'il fait trois films d'un coup et que c'est que de la post prod quasiment, c'est le genre de projet qui peut être repoussé indéfiniment pour que Cameron puisse peaufiner ses images de synthèse.

Même pas sur que le tournage "motion capture" en studio avec les acteurs ait vraiment commencé vu le planing chargé de la miss Saldana ces deux dernières années. A priori le shooting a lieu qu'en ce début d'année.

C'est la fête de l'égo pour Cameron qui annonce maintenant 4 suites (histoire de faire plus que Peter Jackson ou juste parce que la Fox veut amortir au mieux son investissement) avec un planning qu'il va certainement pas tenir 2018, 2020, 2022 et 2023.

A voir si il arrive à justifier ce choix narrativement même si il a bossser pendant 2 ans avec 4 scénaristes... si il fait des films de moins de 2h pourquoi pas mais si c'est 4 films de 2h40 voir 3h ça va être interminable. Là on va frôler l'overdose.

“I've been working the last couple years with four top screenwriters and with some of the top artisan designers in the world to design the world of Avatar going forward—to design the characters, the creatures, the environment, the new cultures,” Cameron explained. “Everything it takes to bring that world to life. So far, what I'm seeing—the art I'm seeing on the walls. . . the stuff that has been developed is, in pure imagination, is really far beyond the first film. The people who have seen it so far have been speechless.”

“It is going to be a true epic saga that is going to be told in this rich and complex world but we have begun to bump up against the limitations of our art form,” continued Cameron. “There were just too many great visual ideas for two sequels, so we talked to Fox and we expanded it for three sequels. And then as the writing process has continued and as the script work is finishing up, it's not three. It looks like it is four.”

Je préfère frôler l'overdose avec Avatar et Cameron qu'avec toutes les prod/reboot/préquels/sequels Marvel prévues..... (Quand bieen même il me gave avec son "business Avatar" comme il aime le dire lui même....)

De quoi rassurer, Cameron va shooter "que" 8h de film donc chaque film devrait pas faire bcp plus de 2h. Et il va tout tourner dans le desordre, bonne chance pour les acteurs

Par contre le côté on va shooter bcp plus en exterieur/dur mais ça se trouve derrière je vais tout refaire en CGI me plait moyen... jamais Cameron va tenir ses propres deadlines.

“It’s not back-to-back. It’s really all one big production. It’s more the way you would shoot a miniseries. So we’ll be shooting across all [AVATAR scripts] simultaneously. So Monday I might be doing a scene from Movie Four, and Tuesday I’m doing a scene from Movie One. … We’re working across, essentially, eight hours of story. It’s going to be a big challenge to keep it all fixed in our minds, exactly where we are, across that story arc at any given point. It’s going to be probably the most challenging thing I’ve ever done. I’m sure the actors will be challenged by that as well. It’s like, ‘No, no, no, no, this person hasn’t died yet, so you’re still in this phase of your life.’ It’s a saga. It’s like doing all three GODFATHER films at the same time.”

On the new AVATAR films, I’m actually going to shoot more real-world stuff. It may only be there as an example from which we then generate CG, or we may actually integrate some of those photographic elements. But I want more photography.

“My original plan was to release them a year apart, but we’re opening that up. If for no other reason than that I don’t want to land on the same date as one of the STAR WARS sequels. That wouldn’t be fair to them. [Laughs] No, that’s just good business. I don’t want to go head-to-head with STAR WARS. That would be stupid. And hopefully they won’t want to go head to head with us.”
